but well, here’s another example of NASCAR conceit; a description of NASCAR-cup drivers as “the best drivers on the planet,” by a FOX analyst. No, sorry, not even close.
I know, oval-track racing is harder than it looks, as more than a few road racers have found out the hard way. But road racing hardly is easier. It’s also harder than it looks, and it looks hard. Plus consider how every road course it completely different from where you raced last week. Or how sports car racers race for hours, take a rest, and then climb back into the race in the midst of it. And yes, I remember Earnhardts father and son sharing a Corvette in the 24 Hours of Daytona. How would they have done in a Formula car?
Wouldn’t it be fun to see those guys – and racers from other disciplines (Indy Car, sprinters, etc.) – go at it in similar cars, you know, in some sort of international race for champions? They could call it – get this – the International Race of Champions. They could have a series! With oval track racing, road racing, maybe dirt? Everyone driving identically-prepared Camaros. They could even draw lots for cars!
Just like they did – I dunno – 25, 30 years ago? Yeah, in the International Race of Champions – IROC. Back then, we could see for ourselves, instead of hearing opinions from a source known for creating fact from fiction.
